Austin!

I'm finally here! I made it to Austin, got my mini fridge stocked with my meals and I have about an hour before my drug test appointment. I am feeling amazing! Sorry I have been neglecting the blog a little, but here are some of the pictures I have been posting over on our Facebook page.

This week was peak week. I pulled my sodium and artificial sweeteners on Monday, did my last weight session on Tuesday, my last cardio session was Wednesday, yesterday my water went from a gallon and a half to a gallon, and today it's just 20 oz. Everything else stayed the same. We are playing with sodium and water to trick my body into being its tightest and most defined for tomorrow morning.

For some reason I can't upload the pictures here (or I'm too carb/water depleted to figure it out), so just hop over to Facebook until I can get them up on here.

Time to relax before all of the tests/tan/meetings begin. Wish me luck!

It is getting so close--I can taste the carbs now! I am not craving candy/sweets/alcohol at all--all I want is some almond butter and rice cakes. WHO AM I?! Don't get me wrong, I am packing all of the traditional "treat" foods, but really, all I want is clean carbs right now. The rumors are true! Bikini competitors crave nut butter and clean carbs when they hit the 2 week out mark!

I am ready for the show. My coach is liking what he is seeing; all of my hard work is paying off. The photos I post on here (taken at night, after 1.5 gallons of water and all my meals) don't do my body justice. I look freaking awesome right now, if I do say so myself! I couldn't be happier with the way my physique came together--I've already accomplished what I wanted to do when I decided to compete. Who cares what happens next weekend! (Though a win would make it even SWEETER!)

I'm about to hit PEAK WEEK and couldn't be more excited. My tan is looking good, I get my hair done on Tuesday, need to set up a wax appointment and get my nails done on Friday morning before I leave for Austin. I have all of my food/treats/triggers ready, just need to pack it all up. Can't believe it's almost here. Three months of prep winding down all for one night! I. CAN. DO. THIS.

Since it's week 9, it's time for more comparison photos! Here is week 1 versus week 9:

SOOOO sorry for the lack of updates around here. I was really bummed about my last weigh-in, and it hit me harder than I thought it would. My coach really wanted me to drop scale pounds and I didn't lose any. Not a single pound. He wasn't too pleased and neither was I. But for some reason, after another week on the diet my body responded and started dropping weight! They canceled posing class tonight or else I would have updated numbers for y'all. I realized I never posed my last measurements, so that's why they are post dated here. I should have some new ones for you next week, too!

We are 3 weeks out from competition and now all of the craziness starts to happen. I see a difference daily now! It's the weirdest thing; I swear I look more muscular every morning. It's awesome! My coach likes the way my body is (now) responding to the diet so I get to stay on it for another week. I love this diet so I am not complaining!!! Next week though, he already let me know that my diet will be changing. Hope this next one is just as good!

My suit should have been delivered yesterday (Wednesday) and it still isn't  here! I am so mad at USPS right now. I'm ready to see how it looks! I've been thinking about it for weeks now and it's like the universe is taunting me with it. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow! One of my clients and friends Sherry got me all of my jewelry at market (she owns a high end boutique) and can't wait to see the whole package put together. It's so close to stage time, I can almost taste my reward meal!!!!

Hello Bikini Body! My body is LOVING this new diet--I've seen some BIG changes this week! I've also switched up my workouts to be more cardio/interval/tabata style to shed any more weight my body is holding onto, and to max my effort in a short time. Up until this week, I've been doing old-school lifting to gain whatever muscle I could; now it's time to see what I have been working on for the past 6 weeks! Hard work is starting to pay off!

Weigh-in week! So excited! I'm actually going to spend most of the day/afternoon with Landa because I haven't really seen her and I happen to have Thursday off :) So excited to see where we both measure in! Come on 119 or lower for me! I think I hit it but we will see!

My husband has been working a CRAZY schedule the month of February so tomorrow night we are having a date night! I'm getting all fancy and we are going to our favorite sushi restaurant for some much needed couple time! Annnnd a cheat meal for me! I haven't really cheated this whole time, besides my birthday and Valentine's day, and both times they were relatively "clean cheats." I know I said I wasn't going to do another cheat meal until the competition, but I have been CRAVING sushi like nobody's business, so I am going to have whatever my little heart desires. Still, no alcohol or dairy (though I might have a few pieces with some spicy aioli--yum!), but a cheat meal none the less. Can't wait to have a fun night with the hubby. I have missed him!

My suit is being ordered this week! I need to get all of my measurements from my weigh-in and get my coach's final approval of suit color and connectors and I'll be all set! Ahhh can't wait to get it! Tanning also starts this week (a little earlier than my coach said I had to) because I can't take being this pale any longer. Plus, everyone looks skinner/better with tanned skin in my opinion!

Wish us luck on our weigh-in! Updates will be coming this weekend!

Update

Hi! I just wanted to give everyone an update on my contest prep! I have currently been on the same diet for almost 6 weeks! I did so well with it the first 3 weeks that my nutritionist kept me on it! I weigh-in this coming Thursday and am hoping to be in between 10 and 11% and under 130lbs. My supplements have not changed either. I am still doing weights 4 days a week as well as cardio 7 days a week and my "extras" 6 days a week. My cardio has been stair stepper for 45min and once a week I do sprints. On the weekends I hit two HIIT boot camps. This past Saturday I did a depletion workout with the March competitors just to experience what it will be like. Man was it tough! My "extras" have still be at least 100 lunges of different styles, regular floor abs and some Bicep exercises. This week I really want to focus on my low abs because they are lagging compared to the rest of my core. I will post as soon as I get measured again because I am sure everything will be kicked up a notch. We are less than 6 weeks away from the big day and every little thing counts!

This week was a weigh-in and with that, a new diet! I LOVE the diet this time. No complaints about any of it--plus, I got my shakes back! My coach is happy with my progress, but wants me to drop weight over the next 2 weeks. He thinks I will compete around 115, and wants me to get out of the 120s sooner rather than later, so when I'm carb depleted and low on energy, I'm not also stressed about losing weight. Double cardio is a new addition this time around, in an attempt to help me shed some more weight.

I also picked out my suit fabric this week! I will be placing my order within the next couple of days. Can't wait to see what it will look like! I'm ordering it from Ravish Sands. They had the best options and pricing that I have found. I wasn't looking to spend a to of money on  my suit since its my first show, and they were by far the cheapest for what I wanted!

Sunday was my birthday, so my family came in town and we went out for dinner at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I ended up eating way too many chips and felt terrible afterwards! I kept my meal relatively clean (minus the chips), but apparently my body can't handle carbs like it used to! The way I felt afterwards makes me not what to do full-on cheat again until after my show. I knocked me on my butt and I didn't even drink! Never want to feel like that again. My coach will pull my cheats at 4 weeks out anyway, so might as well start a few weeks early!

Posing is going well--I was "most improved" at class last week! I am definitely more comfortable with my routine, now just need to perfect it! I love the feedback that I get at class--I don't know how people do it without a class! It's so helpful and they see things that you can't see yourself. If you are competing, definitely take a posing class, even if it's just once or twice! Big help, especially for a first timer like me!

Hopefully I will reach my goal of being out of the 120s when I go back next week. If I do, I get to spoil  myself with a mani/pedi!

8 weeks out- Second Weigh-In

I had my second weigh-in three weeks after my first. My body fat is 13.8% and I weighed 130lbs. I lost a little over 4% and 8lbs! My target body fat for the competition is 8% which leaves me about 5% left in 8 weeks. My goal is to lose 1% per week. I am not concerned at all with my weight, it has no purpose in the competition. Below is a picture of me 3 weeks ago and where I am right now! The changes are very obvious.

Measurements
Shoulders: 39" (-.5)
Chest: 31.5" (-1)
Waist: 24.5" (-1.25)
Hips: 34" (same)
Right Bicep: 8.5" (same)
Left Bicep: 8.25" (same)
Right Thigh: 16.75" (-1.25)
Left Thigh: 16.75" (-.75)

I will update y'all when I receive my new meal plan! But I do know I get to continue eating a lot of food and calories! Also, Kristin and I order fabric swatches for our suits so we should be getting those soon. I am looking for a bright pink or coral! Let me know what y'all think!

Kristin: 8 Weeks Out

(8 Weeks from Competition)

Nutrition:
  • New diet, consisting of cream of wheat, blueberries, flax seed oil, turkey, salmon, asparagus, salsa, spinach, apple cider vinegar, yams, brown rice, talapia, green beans, ketchup, and egg whites
  • Carb cycling (little/no carbs for 3 days, then high carbs every 4th day)
  • Still eating every 2-3 hours
  • 2 cups green tea/day
  • 1 gallon of water/day
Supplements:
  • Same as always :)
Workouts:

Switched up the routine a little bit to fit my schedule better, and changed the workouts--definitely a new challenge and my body is loving it! My booty is burning in a good way!
  • 60' cardio 6x/week
  • Shoulders
  • Legs
  • Abs/Core (I noticed I was skipping out on abs, so I made a day where I spend an hour+ in the gym doing just abs and core to make sure I get them in, as well as doing them after cardio sessions)
  • Arms
  • Back/Glutes
  • Yoga
  • 15' posing/day
  • My lunges after weights are done in my contest heels for extra booty burning!
***

We are a month in to this, so thought it would be cool to see some comparison photos. This is week 1 (12 weeks out) versus week 5 (8 weeks out). I can definitely see the difference! What do y'all think?

This new diet was a struggle for me to get used to, if you couldn't tell by my FaceBook posts from this week. I don't know if it was the carb cycling, my (ahem) crazy hormones, getting used to meals instead of shakes, or a combination of everything, but I struggled! I think I've adjusted to it though. I am LOVING our new weight program. I added a lot of cable exercises to really isolate the muscles we are trying to work, as well as incorporate lots of exercises to target our problem areas (butt and abs). My glutes are SO SORE and I love it! I like that feeling because I know I really killed it in the gym when my body is sore afterwards.

I think I have narrowed down my suit for the competition! Mike (our coach) thinks I will look good in turquoise, so Landa has ordered a bunch of fabric swatches. Once they come in, I will choose the fabric and then I can place my order! Here is what I'm thinking it will look like:

(via)

Posing has been going well, too. I think I have my routine down, just need to work on smiling and adding in some "sass" when I do it! We didn't have class this week because of Valentine's Day, and I missed having it! I like going each week for feedback and critiques on what/how I am doing with it because it's a foreign concept to me! Going this Thursday and can't wait!

I go for my weigh-in and new diet on Thursday, as well. My goal this time is to be at or below 13.2% (down 2% from my last check-in). If I make this goal, I am going to treat myself to a much-needed massage! I like to make goals for myself and then reward myself with something (other than food), that I wouldn't normally get for myself. Last check-in, it was a new outfit from Lululemon and it has already gotten plenty of use! Love their clothes!

Hope y'all have an awesome week and can't wait to let y'all know how the weigh-in went!
